Wild poppies growing in a field

Founded 2016

Red is for the ones who died. Teal is for the ones still fighting.

And everyone standing in it with them.

Why teal?

Teal is for PTSD awareness — and every piece in this shop exists so a woman who is certain she is the only one can spot it on you across a parking lot and know she isn't.

That's the whole point of a symbol. You don't have to say anything. She sees it, and she knows.

Ours is the real flower, not the pin. Wild, unplanted, growing in ground that got torn open — the one everybody agrees is a weed, and it is absolutely stunning anyway. Strength, perseverance and beauty in something nobody looks after. We didn't have to explain that metaphor to a single woman who's lived it.

"We make the thing we couldn't find anywhere else: something you can wear that says it out loud."

The injury nobody sees

Because the injury nobody can see is the injury nobody accounts for. No cast. No scar. No line on a form a stranger understands.

We are a women's social support group inside a veteran community — founded by veteran spouses, and open to women Veterans and female caregivers who stood beside the ones who served and carried their own invisible weight doing it. We make the thing we couldn't find anywhere else: something you can wear that says it out loud.

Every dollar goes back.

Emergency funding for families in a bad month — the hydro bill in February, the gas to an appointment two hours away or groceries for the kids.

Scholarships. Team sponsorships. Veteran athletes and their families across a range of sports and programs. Community-funded programs, and the events we host — women's activities twice a month, in 7 provinces at different times and on different days, because everybody's week looks different.

You're not buying a shirt. You're buying somebody some breathing room.

Autumn Farmer

Founder, The Teal Poppies · CEO, The Veteran Farmer Inc & Fortitude Farms

Ten years ago, Autumn set a goal: create a nationally recognized group of women living with PTSD. The Teal Poppies is that vision made real.
